Grouse Nest Farm is nestled in the heart of Hunt Valley on five and a
half beautiful acres we affectionately call horse heaven. We are only 15
minutes from the city of Victoria and 15 minutes from the transportation
that takes you to and from Vancouver.
I was fortunate enough to grow up in this area and was able to
train with top show jumper, Bo Mearns, and work at a top quality TB breeding
facility for a number of years.
I spent three years in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, training horses and teaching,
as well a showing in their local shows. I then moved on to Australia and
worked for two top show jumpers, Sue and Jamie Coman. I spent two and a half
years traveling around with them to all the world cup qualifiers, loving
every minute of it.
Our horses at Grouse Nest Farm all have high quality care and our broodmares
are constantly monitored by cameras at foaling time. We are one of the only
breeding farms around in the area.
The future of any breeding program lies in the accomplishments of
its youngsters.
We are exceptionally proud of Wallen’s Expresso’s (aka Mocha) first foal,
Ratu. He has amazing movement and is on his way to becoming a quality stallion.
He won his inspection and was Grand Champion Foal as a weanling, has
shown and won Reserve Champion in Futurity Colts as a yearling, and as a three year old, Ratu has won us the prestigious LT. GOVERNORS CUP.
Through the use of top bloodlines, our breeding program produces
horses for top competition with special attention placed on temperament
and ride ability. At the moment we have fillies and mares by Sandro Hit, Salieri, Donnerschlag and Consul as well as other youngsters by Rotspon and Wolkentanz.
